Brightmetrics™ Top 10 Charts

Charts and dashboards are great for identifying trends and anomalies over a fixed set of criteria. For example, seeing the call volume of a small department of users.


But what happens if that set of criteria needs to fluctuate, or if it is not such a small set of users you need to report upon.


For example, if you have a department of 100 people, it would not be feasible to put them all on a chart. But you might want to see the top 10 (or 5 or 15 or whatever) users by call count over time.

Now Brightmetrics can accommodate you.

From your Chart Options dialog box (where you create your chart) you can select "Advanced" options:

Now you will see the area at the bottom labeled "Top X" where you will have the option to see how many items you'd like on the chart as well as the option to group the rest of the items. Below is a Top 10 chart with "Group Remaining Results" turned on.

A note on using "Group Remaining Results". If you have a large group of people and you do a Top X chart, the remaining results may be much larger in total than the individual top users. If this is the case, you might want to consider NOT using the "Group Remaining Results" feature because the scale of that will dwarf the rest of the Top X users and make the chart difficult to read.
